We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Risk and Control Lead, WPB NFR Utility - WPB NFR UTILITY -RISK CONTROL.
Principal responsibilities
- Lead and oversee a high performing Risk and Control Team within WPB NFR Utility.
- Engage with in-Market SME Leads to ensure local Market requirements are adhered to, support resolution of any escalations from Market.
- Liaise with Global SMEs, relevant risk stewards and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with Global Policy as well as sharing best practice.
- Successfully transitioning the Risk and Control team from the current FTE-led model towards a mature services-led proposition, across markets under the same catalogue.
- Drive streamlining, automation & digitalization across Risk and Control activities for continuous improvement.
- Manage capacity during peak times to ensure consistent service is maintained to WPB Markets.
- Produce relevant Management Information and reporting for all Risk and Control activities in the WPB NFR Utility.
- High level of drive and self-motivation to ensure delivery of a broad range of outputs simultaneously in a matrix environment.
- Engage people to deliver high performance and committed to personal and professional development both for self and team.
- Providing guidance to business in adhering to the Non-Financial Risk framework and operational risk policies, ensuring effective operational control structures are in place for Markets, in compliance with Group standards and local regulations.
- Support developing and execute continuous monitoring plan for key controls.
- Plan targeted / ad hoc thematic reviews and read across to provide control assurance as and when needed (i.e. emerging risk identified via KCIs/KRIs or in response to major business/process/regulatory changes).
- Contribute to the effective identification, assessment and root cause analysis of material internal risk events and issues; advising and constructively challenging business / DBS / Global Functions on resolution; tracking remediation.
- Track and provide advice on the completion of management response actions; ensure timely and accurate recording in the operational risk management system, HSBC Helios.
- Keep abreast of regulatory & internal policy changes for continuous risk identification and control monitoring.
