The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher (synthetic organic and/or medicinal chemistry) position on Kuopio Campus. Role and salary
We are looking for a highly motivated synthetic organic and/or medicinal chemist interested to expand and deepen their skill set. In this role, you will become a member of a multidisciplinary team working to advance chemical probes and new target discovery projects for understudied protein kinases. Candidates will be expected to carry out multi-step syntheses in order to develop structure-activity relationships and have a strong knowledge of heterocyclic chemistry.
The post of Postdoctoral Researcher, is hosted by the School of Pharmacy at the Faculty of Health Sciences at University of Eastern Finland. The position is located in Kuopio, Finland.

The position will be filled for a fixed term from 1 October 2023 (or as agreed) to 30 September 2025. The position will be filled for a fixed term due to it pertaining to a specific project task. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the staff.
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system for Finnish universities. The salary comprises two elements: a job-related element and a personal salary element. The Postdoctoral Researcher position is based on level 5 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff. The personal salary element is 6–50% of the job-related salary element. Depending on the personal salary element, the salary will be approximately EUR 3,465 – 3,780 /month.

Requirements
- A relevant PhD degree with a solid training and expertise in organic/medicinal chemistry or allied subject,
- fluent skills in oral and written English. English is used as the language of instruction and supervision in this position,
- experience in biochemistry/biology is considered an advantage but not essential,
- adaptability to work both independently and as a member of a team,
- ability to plan and execute multi-step synthetic schemes to access target molecules.
The doctoral degree may not have been completed more than five years before the candidate accepts the doctoral researcher position (a net period of time, which does not include parental leaves, military service etc.).
