Objective of the role:
The main responsibility of the Environmental Officer (EO) is to ensure that Environmental policies, strategy, action plans and roadmap are shared, understood, and implemented throughout AMEA entities and countries.
The EO liaises with environmental correspondents/ SPOCS to ensure the dissemination of information and best practices within the region. The EO is a Business Process Owner, responsible for the environmental management process (COR6a), its control and improvement.
The EO must assess AMEA environmental performance to support, improve and drive efficiency in the ways of working within functional or GBU scopes/ perimeters. Support and ensure effective implementation regarding environmental advisory, impact studies, operational risk assessment, trainings and reporting and monitoring.


Reporting line
The Environmental Officer will report to the Chief Sustainability Officer for AMEA region.



Responsibilities

EMS and Business Support:
1. The implementation of the environmental reporting process by the group
2. The implementation of Groups CSR objectives and targets relating to Environmental management.
3. Compliance with applicable laws and compliance requirements implemented by group
4. Track and follow regional environmental legislation and Group policies to ensure that defined standards and best practices are implemented in the region.
5. Institute best practices of reporting for AMEA on environmental management
6. Develop strategies and adaptation plans based on ENGIE environmental/ social risks for all ENGIE assets/ activities within the region
7. Assist and report on ENGIE climate risks with mitigation actions.
8. Report on ENGIE regional Carbon footprint and tarjectories to ensure carbon budgets are achieved in line with ENGIE’s Net Zero goal.
9. Set/ Develop environmental strategy/ process for AMEA countries to ensure environmental impacts are managed and mitigated.

10. Support and advise functional teams and GBUs in the environmental delivery throughout a project value chain.
11. Implement company’s Environmental Management System (EMS), including writing and reviewing of associated policies and procedures.
12. Manage audit program of EMS to ISO14001 standards and liaise with ISO14001 external auditor for EMS.
13. Provide directive, shared information, and strategy for AMEA Environmental & Social Responsibility Committee.
14. Provide expert advice and guidance in support of the regional ESR strategy and roadmap.
15. Oversee, manage multiple ENGIE Groups reporting campaigns (scope, indicators, users and parameters): EARTH, Taxonomy, Ways of Working, CO2 trajectory, ERM, CSR checklist, …
14. Support Business Development and Technical teams on environmental impact studies and liaise with technical agencies, local authorities, and EPC contractors on the matter.
15. Collaborate with HSE teams on the dissemination of environmental requirements, action plans and support to AMEA operational sites, across all GBUs.
16. Support CSR initiatives and programs in collaboration with all departments and encourage participation in activities related to Sustainability.
17. Provide environmental training (Decarbonization, Climate, Biodiversity) to AMEA employees.
18. Support ENGIE Group CSR department with regional information on environmental/ social KPI performance and other regional related information.
19. Ensure the support and reporting to ensure the alignment with environmental and societal actions plans are implemented at Country and across business lines.


ENGIE’s EARTH Reporting Process:
  • Manage ENGIE reporting tool EARTH as the single point of contact (level 2 validator) for all Business line entities of AMEA
  • Liaise with multiple stakeholders involved in reporting processes
  • Ensure 100% compliant on environmental reporting quality and timely delivery of data and information.
  • Analyze data consistency,
  • Coordination with Group Corporate CSR department to support the deployment of EARTH to all entities in AMEA scope, provide guidance and collaborate with contributors on EARTH local instructions, data submission, data analysis and data validation during the campaign.
  • Support EARTH Environmental audits (Site and regional audits),
  • Support operational team during the audit and audit preparation.
  • lead AMEA consolidation reviews external audit and liaise with auditors and regional contributors for clarifications.
  • Participate in regional audits to ensure verification and consistency of data.
  • Define and create dashboards to facilitate an annual summary report and flag future needs in relation to reporting.
  • Organize briefing/ training sessions and workshops on EARTH campaign process and expectations.

Qualifications and experience:
  • Engineering degree or master's in environmental science. This can also be in the form of a bachelor's degree in areas of specializations (maths, science, environment)
  • 3- 5 years of professional experience in environmental management and reporting.
  • Previous experience with ISO 14001 standardization is desirable.
  • Training in environmental management is a plus.
  • Professional experience on an operational site.
  • Fluent in English – mandatory.
  • Fluent in French – advantage.
